The ever-expanding Dialog is looking for more engineers, says Dialog vp Mark Tyndall who runs the power conversion group which includes the recently acquired iWatt business.

‘We’re looking for mixed signal designers,” says Tyndall. Dialog has 600 IC designers. “it’s the largest power management design group anywhere,” says Tyndall.

Within the power conversion group the fastest growing area is solid state lighting ICs where the company has a technology calked BroadLED which balances the voltage between high voltage and low voltage LEDs allowing customers to use inexpensive LEDs.

To find its designers Dialog goes to where the designers are, recently setting up a design centre in Istanbul because there was an available group of designers there.

It has set up design groups in Edinburgh, Livano Italy, Munich, Graz in Audtris, Swindon, Japan and Santa Clara.

“72% of our employees are engineers,” says Tyndall.

Dialog has had an astonishing expansion. In 2007, the company had revenues of $87 million. Last year it had revenues of $774 million and this year it is expected to have revenues of over $800 million not counting the extra revenue contributed by the iWatt acquisition which, last year, was $74 million.
